Build a printable shopping list with quantities, or print a blank template to fill in by hand.

Make a shopping list with quantities and print it to take to the shop, or print a blank one to write on. Each line has a check box, a quantity and an item name.

How it works

What you see on screen is what prints. The check boxes are drawn as empty squares to tick off with a pen as you shop.

Your list is saved in this browser as you type.

How to use it

Rename the list by clicking its title, if you like.
For each item, type the quantity (Qty) and the item name. Add rows with “+ Add row”.
Choose a Color theme and Page width.
Click Print (with 100% scale and headers and footers off).

Options & controls

The list

Title: The heading at the top of the sheet. Default: “My Shopping List”.
Qty: A short box for how many, such as 2, 1 kg or 6 pack. It is plain text, so anything goes. The box is narrow, so keep it brief.
Item: What to buy. The list starts with eight blank rows.
Remove item (×): Deletes that row. Shown on screen only.
+ Add row: Adds a blank row at the bottom.

Print and page settings (shared by every printable)

Color theme: Five swatches — Slate (default), Ink Blue, Forest, Sepia and Mono — that recolour the text, ruled lines and section headings on the sheet. Mono is pure black, best for black-and-white printers. The selected swatch has a ring around it.
Page width: A6 (105 mm), A5 (148 mm), B5 (176 mm), A4 (210 mm, default) or Letter (215.9 mm). This is how wide the sheet is when printed. It does not choose your paper — pick that in the print dialog — but a narrower width leaves room to print smaller cards or half-pages, and one that matches your paper fills it edge to edge. On a phone the on-screen sheet is never wider than the screen.
Print: Opens your browser's print dialog for the sheet. Only the sheet itself is printed: the buttons, pickers, remove (×) buttons, “+ Add row” links and the page-break guides are left out, and so is the grey placeholder text in empty fields.
Reset: In the title row. After you confirm a warning (“Clear this list and start over? This can't be undone.”), it restores the title and eight blank rows, the Slate theme and the A4 page width.
Page break guides: If the sheet is longer than one page, dashed lines labelled “Page 2”, “Page 3” and so on appear on screen to show roughly where each new A4 page will start. They are an estimate to help you avoid a row being cut in half, and they never print.

Tips & guidelines

Type the list in the order of the shop's aisles so you can walk it in one pass.
Print at A5 or A6 width for a compact list that fits in a pocket.
In the print dialog, set the scale to 100% (or “Actual size”) and turn off “Headers and footers”. Otherwise the browser shrinks the sheet and adds a date and web address to the page.
For a blank template to fill in by hand, leave the fields empty (or press Reset and confirm) and print. Empty rows print as blank lines and empty boxes.
Use Print preview first to check where the page breaks fall, and choose the paper size and orientation there.
Prefer the Mono theme when printing in black and white, so light colours do not come out too faint.

Limits

The template is one fixed layout; you can change the rows, text and colours but not the arrangement of the sections.
Check boxes are drawn empty for ticking with a pen — they cannot be ticked on screen.
The layout is designed for portrait pages.
Items are plain text: there are no prices, totals, categories, or ways to reorder rows.

Saved in your browser

The title, every quantity and item, and your theme and page-width choices are saved in this browser's local storage, on this device only. Nothing is sent anywhere. Reset clears them, and clearing this site's data in your browser does too.
