Generate placeholder text for designs and mockups.

Generate “lorem ipsum” placeholder text — the scrambled Latin used to fill in designs and mockups before the real copy exists. Choose words, sentences or paragraphs, and how many.

How it works

The text is assembled at random from a fixed list of about 60 classic lorem ipsum words. Sentences are 6–13 words long and start with a capital and end with a full stop; paragraphs are 4–6 sentences each, separated by a blank line. Because it is random, each click on Generate produces different text.

Whatever you choose, the output opens with the traditional first line — “Lorem ipsum…” — so it looks like the standard placeholder. (For Words, the first two words are always “Lorem ipsum”.)

How to use it

  1. Pick what to generate: Words, Sentences or Paragraphs.
  2. Set How many? (1–50).
  3. Click Generate. The text replaces whatever was in the box.
  4. Click Copy, or Download to save it as a text file.

Options & controls

Generation settings

Generate
Words, Sentences, or Paragraphs. Default: Paragraphs. Changing this does nothing until you click the Generate button.
How many? (max 50)
A whole number from 1 to 50 of whichever unit you chose. Numbers outside that range are clamped when you click Generate. Default: 3.
Generate button
Creates a new random passage and puts it in the box.

Output and page controls

Text box
Read-only. When you first open the tool it holds a fixed sample of three sentences so the page looks the same each time it loads.
Copy
Copies the whole passage.
Download
Saves it as lorem-ipsum.txt.
Reset
In the title row. Puts the settings back to Paragraphs and 3, and restores the fixed sample text in the box.

Tips & guidelines

  • Generate a little more than you need and trim it; placeholder text is easier to shorten than to lengthen.
  • Placeholder text is meant to be replaced. Check that no lorem ipsum ships in a final page or document.
  • If you need several different passages, click Generate again for each one.

Limits

  • The vocabulary is a fixed word list, so the text is repetitive by nature; it is not the original passage from Cicero.
  • Only Latin lorem ipsum is offered — no other languages, no HTML tags, and no custom starting phrase.
  • The Words option produces a run of lowercase words with no punctuation, apart from the opening “Lorem ipsum”.
